The link with careers advice is important to note.
Any student who shows aptitude and wants to take a particular skill further, as well as being encouraged to gain a BTEC, will be taken on site visits for work experience, and put in touch with a careers advisor to see what options are available to them. This will usually be the careers advisor on the school site that Build a skill is present in.
Not every career is found down a purely academic route, students who may find lessons in school difficult or of no interest are often found to thrive given the opportunity to explore more hands on skills! this can have a positive impact on areas such as motivation, self esteem, satisfaction in school and drive for the future. Also behaviour can become more positive in and around school.
